In the context of communication, there are those who hide behind the erratum when in truth they have committed an error. It is not the same thing. Errata refer to formal matters… the inaccuracy or “mistake” in the content of a publication that concerns erroneous information, that is to say, that is related to the content, is not precisely an erratum; it is an error.
But telling and listening to the truth is not an option for everyone today. Some do not always seek or want the truth; some exhibit an instinctive inclination and a perverse predisposition to lie and, because of an unhealthy tendency to disloyalty, as T. S. Eliot stated: “they have a limited capacity for exposure to reality”.
